Voor Curaçao International Film Festival (CIFF) 2027 zijn we op zoek naar een extra projectiemedewerker die het technische team van The Movies komt versterken.

Als projectiemedewerker speel je een belangrijke rol achter de schermen. Jij helpt ervoor te zorgen dat filmvertoningen soepel verlopen en bezoekers optimaal kunnen genieten van hun filmervaring.

Je hoeft nog geen ervaring te hebben als bioscoopprojectiemedewerker. Technisch inzicht, verantwoordelijkheidsgevoel en de bereidheid om te leren zijn minstens zo belangrijk. Je krijgt de mogelijkheid om voorafgaand aan het festival te worden ingewerkt.

Wat ga je doen?
Als projectiemedewerker ondersteun je de dagelijkse technische uitvoering van filmvertoningen. De functie is betaald. De totale vergoeding is Xcg 1500 gulden, waarin je de maanden jan- maart beschikbaar bent voor training en voorbereiding en tijdens het festival 13-18 april full time beschikbaar bent. Daarnaast is het mogelijk bij goed functioneren dat je in dienst zou kunnen treden bij The Movies.

Je werkzaamheden bestaan onder andere uit:
– Voorbereiden, starten en controleren van filmvoorstellingen.
– Bedienen van digitale projectie-, geluids- en automatiseringssystemen.
– Signaleren en waar mogelijk oplossen van technische storingen.
– Zorgen dat voorstellingen technisch correct en op tijd beginnen.
– Werken volgens de technische procedures en veiligheidsvoorschriften van The Movies.

Wie zoeken we?
We zoeken iemand die technisch vaardig is, nauwkeurig werkt en rustig blijft wanneer zich onverwachte situaties voordoen.

Wat breng je mee?
– Minimaal MBO-niveau, bij voorkeur in een technische richting, ICT, audiovisuele techniek of elektrotechniek.
– Technische affiniteit en basiskennis van computers en digitale systemen.
– Een praktische, zelfstandige en oplossingsgerichte werkhouding.
– Verantwoordelijkheidsgevoel, betrouwbaarheid en oog voor detail.
– Het vermogen om onder tijdsdruk rustig en logisch te handelen.
– Goede communicatieve vaardigheden in Nederlands en/of Papiaments.
– Voldoende kennis van het Engels om technische handleidingen te begrijpen en met externe technische ondersteuning te communiceren.
– Ervaring met audiovisuele apparatuur, bioscoopprojectie, IT-support, evenementen of technische dienstverlening is een pluspunt, maar geen vereiste.

Beschikbaarheid en opleiding
Omdat filmvertoningen vaak in de avonduren, weekenden en op feestdagen plaatsvinden, is flexibiliteit belangrijk.

Je bent bereid om:
– Avond-, weekend- en feestdagdiensten te werken.
– Een interne opleiding bij The Movies te volgen.
– Tijdens de inwerkperiode mee te draaien met het bestaande technische team.

De geselecteerde kandidaat start enkele maanden vóór CIFF 2027, zodat er voldoende tijd is om de systemen, procedures en dagelijkse werkzaamheden onder de knie te krijgen.

Wat vinden we belangrijk?
We kijken verder dan diploma’s en werkervaring. Technisch inzicht, gezond verstand, leergierigheid en verantwoordelijkheidsgevoel zijn voor deze functie minstens zo belangrijk.

Job Opportunity: Cinema Projectionist – CIFF 2027

Are you tech-savvy, a natural problem-solver, and passionate about film? We’re looking for you! Curaçao International Film Festival (CIFF) 2027 is looking for an additional cinema projectionist to join the technical team at The Movies.

As a projectionist, you’ll play an essential role behind the scenes, helping ensure that film screenings run smoothly and audiences enjoy the best possible cinema experience. Previous experience as a cinema projectionist is not required. Technical aptitude, reliability, and a willingness to learn are just as important. The selected candidate will receive on-the-job training ahead of the festival.

What Will You Do?
As a cinema projectionist, you will support the daily technical operations of film screenings. This is a paid position with a total compensation of XCG 1,500 for the entire assignment. The selected candidate must be available for training and preparation from January through March 2027, and full-time during the festival, from April 13–18, 2027. Depending on performance, there may be an opportunity to join The Movies as a permanent employee after the festival.

Your responsibilities will include:
– Preparing, starting, and monitoring film screenings.
– Operating digital projection, sound, and automation systems.
– Identifying and resolving technical issues whenever possible.
– Ensuring screenings start on time and run smoothly.
– Following the technical procedures and safety guidelines of The Movies.

Who Are We Looking For?
We’re looking for someone who is technically minded, detail-oriented, and able to remain calm when unexpected situations arise.

What you bring:
– At least MBO-level education (intermediate vocational level) or equivalent, preferably in a technical field, IT, audiovisual technology, or electrical engineering.
– Technical aptitude and basic knowledge of computers and digital systems.
– A practical, independent, and solution-oriented mindset.
– Reliability, responsibility, and attention to detail.
– The ability to think clearly and act calmly under pressure.
– Good communication skills in Dutch and/or Papiamentu.
– Sufficient English proficiency to understand technical manuals and communicate with external technical support.
– Experience with audiovisual equipment, cinema projection, IT support, events, or technical services is an advantage, but not a requirement.

Availability and Training
Cinema operations often take place during evenings, weekends, and public holidays, so flexibility is important.

You must be willing to:
Work evening, weekend, and public holiday shifts.
– Complete internal training at The Movies.
– Work alongside the existing technical team during the training period.
– The selected candidate will start several months before CIFF 2027 to allow sufficient time for training, hands-on experience, and preparation to work independently.

What Matters Most?
We’re looking beyond diplomas and previous experience. Technical aptitude, common sense, reliability, a willingness to learn, and a strong sense of responsibility are equally important. All candidates will be assessed according to the selection procedures of The Movies.
