Selected films for the Impact 1 Program Announced

For Caribbean Feature Films in Post-Production Impact 1 is a new initiative for CIFF, developed in collaboration with the Morelia International Film Festival (FICM) and with the support of Atomica —one of Latin America´s largest full-service postproduction houses with offices in Chile and Mexico—, to offer a unique platform for Caribbean filmmakers to receive constructive feedback on their films in post-production.

Like the Yellow Robin Award Competition, the section is open to filmmakers from, or working in, the Caribbean and the wider Caribbean basin (including coastal Mexico, Central America and South America), as well as filmmakers from these regions living or working in the diaspora.

The call for entries, which welcomed feature-length fiction and documentary films at any stage of postproduction, received 40 submissions, highlighting the strength and vitality of the region´s filmmaking talent.

Selected projects will be presented in private screenings on April 16 and 17 to three distinguished film professionals, whom we are honored to welcome to Curacao this year: Pamela Biénzobas, curator and programmer at the Locarno Film Festival; Jim Kolmar, curator and programmer at the South by Southwest Film & TV Festival (SXSW); and Dave Schram, Dutch director and producer, founder of Shooting Star Film company.

This platform is designed to foster meaningful dialogue and provide valuable feedback to the participating filmmakers, who will be present during the sessions.

Impact 1 will offer two important prizes to support the completion of the selected projects. The winning film will receive a cash prize of $5,000 USD, awarded by CIFF. Additionally, Atomica will grant an award consisting of $15,000 USD in post-production services. We greatly appreciate the collaboration of our media partner, LatAm cinema.com
