Curaçao International Film Festival announces 2027 festival dates

WILLEMSTAD – The 13th edition of the Curaçao International Film Festival (CIFF) will take place from April 13 to 18, 2027. Following the success of the previous edition, the festival returns with another six-day program celebrating international cinema, regional storytelling, and meaningful encounters between filmmakers, audiences, and the film industry.

In 2027, CIFF will continue its commitment to strengthening the Caribbean film sector by investing in the development and visibility of local and regional productions, as well as film education. The program will once again provide a platform for emerging filmmakers, unique collaborations, and initiatives that support creative talent from across the region.

In addition, the festival is exploring the introduction of dedicated industry meetings, giving film professionals access to an expanded professional program featuring industry talks, masterclasses, workshops, and networking opportunities.

The Watapana Award will also be presented for the second consecutive year. Created to recognize and celebrate filmmakers from the Dutch Caribbean and Suriname, the award has become an important platform for showcasing regional talent. The successful 2026 edition once again brought together filmmakers, producers, and film enthusiasts from the Caribbean and beyond, further reinforcing CIFF’s growing international reputation.

“With every edition, our goal is not only to bring outstanding films to Curaçao, but also to create a platform for filmmakers from our own region and strengthen our connection with the community,” says Festival Director Michael Elias. “Building on the success of the 2026 festival, we look forward to welcoming filmmakers, industry professionals, and film lovers from around the world once again in 2027 as we continue to grow the festival. Special attention will also be given to strengthening our relationships with regional film festivals.”

Preparations for the 13th edition are already underway. More details about the program, the first film titles, and special guests will be announced in the lead-up to the festival.
